WWJ-TV/WKBD-TV, the CBS-owned duopoly in Detroit, is looking for an experienced Multi-Media Journalist (MMJ) to join our team. We want someone who fights for the lead story, brings ideas to the table daily, cultivates sources, owns social media and is passionate about local news. Candidates must have strong, creative storytelling skills and energetic delivery.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and execute enterprise content on a consistent basis
  • Cover breaking news with a sense of urgency
  • Pitch vetted stories reflective of the community
  • Shoot, write and edit packages for daily newscasts
  • Establish and maintain relationships/sources in the community
  • Produce content for Twitter, Facebook, and other social media sites

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to shoot and edit broadcast-quality video for television newscast and digital platforms

CBS Television (WWJ CBS 62 & WKBD CW50) in Detroit is seeking a highly motivated, self-starter with previous experience in broadcast television, cable and/or digital to join the country’s premier O&O broadcast group. The ideal candidate will have a proven record of growing transactional business, prospecting & closing new business, and experience selling across multiple screens and markets. Possessing a marketing mindset and an understanding of the role advertising plays across a variety of businesses is a must. Looking for a team player, with a drive to succeed in a goal-oriented, fast-paced sales environment.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

WEATHER ANCHOR/REPORTER

SUMMARY

WWJ-TV/WKBD-TV, the CBS-owned duopoly is Detroit, has an opening for a Weather Reporter. This is a part-time, as-needed position for our First Forecast Weather shows, with duties including, but not limited to, serving as Weather Reporter, Tape/Video Editor, and Program Announcer as well as making appearances as a representative of the stations at locations or events as assigned. This position will have no specific schedule and may be needed approximately ten (10) to twenty (20) times per year to cover afternoons and evenings during the week, weekends, and holidays, and occasionally with little notice.

DESCRIPTION

The Weather Reporter will prepare and deliver weather reports and forecasts on-air and on digital platforms at regularly-scheduled times, either live or recorded, and additional times as needed during severe weather. The qualified candidate will possess very strong, clear and informative on-air presentation skills and must have severe weather and forecasting experience. The Weather Reporter will also analyze weather data and synthesize the information into clear, easy-to-understand graphics and must have the ability to present weathercasts from the studio or on-location if necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS

A minimum of three years of television broadcast experience with solid operating knowledge of weather forecasting and presentation software is required. A degree in Meteorology or related science is preferred. Candidates designated as Certified Broadcast Meteorologist by the American Meteorological Society will get top consideration.
