The Administrative Assistant performs a variety of administrative, clerical, and staff support duties which require a range of knowledge involving organizational procedures and policies.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Opens and closes front lobby (Visitor) entrance Monday – Friday.
  • Screens visitors of the stations following station policy regarding entry beyond lobby area. Ensures no one is admitted inside our facilities without having signed in, is wearing station identification, and must be escorted by a station employee.
  • Screens calls related to Sales and direct caller to the appropriate Sales Manager or Sales Team Member.
  • Greets visitors for Sales/Commercial Production and notifies appropriate personnel so that guests are escorted to the proper location for sales and/or commercial shoots.
  • Answers viewer general calls related to programming; public file; current job postings; etc. Transfers call as necessary.
  • Accepts and logs deliveries from various sources including UPS, FedEx, USPS, etc. which come in throughout the day. Notifies appropriate recipient to pick-up their delivery as soon as possible so that boxes are not left in the lobby overnight.
  • Monitors security cameras and notifies Human Resources and Department Heads regarding suspicious activity if detected. Notifies the authorities when necessary.
  • Screens and greets guests of our Community Affairs shows (Street Beat and Michigan Matters) making sure guests and panelists are properly documented and escorted inside our facilities by a staff member.
  • Downloads daily programming schedule by episode and vendor for MCR.


  • Proficient in the use of MS Office applications
  • Strong interpersonal skills are required
  • Must be organized and detail oriented
  • Must be able to multitask and stay calm under pressure
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team preferred
  • Must be able to work the hours set; punctuality and reliability is required
  • Must be neat and professional in appearance

The Digital Sales Assistant will assist the Digital & Sales/Marketing Manager in the development of new revenue opportunities and ongoing account management of new/existing campaigns. Working with internal teams and external clients/partners, the Digital Sales Assistant will be proficient in all areas of digital sales support to ensure the team’s overall digital success.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:

  • Create customized Digital Sales presentations for Account Executives.
  • Assist with creation of Digital Sales packages and materials, including localizing national sponsorship opportunity decks.
  • Work with the Digital & Sales/Marketing Manager in coordinating Digital Sales projects and/or exclusive revenue opportunities for the station.
  • Creates spec (sample) digital ads for clients to be included in Digital Sales presentations.
  • Accurately enter, revise, and maintain Digital orders across multiple platforms, including generating contracts and file maintenance.
  • Assist Account Executives with digital artwork requests and work with the Creative Services Department to secure creative for digital campaigns.
  • Serve as station liaison for trafficking campaigns with ad operations, and coordinating/trafficking campaigns with external partners.
  • Track pacing and performance of digital campaigns to ensure delivery. Able to re-cap Digital and campaigns upon request.
  • Update and maintain weekly spreadsheets of revenue booked, competitive data, etc
  • Provide digital content as needed, and attend Marketing events off-site (may include evenings and weekend work)
  • Perform general clerical duties including, but not limited to: handling phone calls, filing, photocopying, binding, mailing, and other administrative duties.


  • Highly proficient in PowerPoint & Excel. Social media savvy.
  • Understanding of Wide Orbit, Google DFP, Google Analytics a plus. Knowledge of WordPress and Adobe Photoshop also a plus.
  • Must have strong written communication skills and the ability to think creatively.
  • Must have strong organizational skills and pay close attention to detail.
  • Requires good verbal communication with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Degree preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Prior experience in digital media is a plus.

The Sales/Research Assistant provides administrative support to the staff of the Sales Department. Duties include general research, clerical, and project-based work, with special focus in the areas of sales and research. The Sales Assistant projects a professional company image through in-person and phone interaction.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Coordinating, preparing, and finalizing materials necessary for sales presentations to clients and media departments of advertising agencies.
  • Assists Research Director with the creation of Research materials and presentations.
  • Research new market opportunities using internal systems.
  • Accurately entering and maintaining Sales TV orders, make-goods and revisions, pull spot detail reports for clients, and including file maintenance for Account Executives. Work with Traffic department to facilitate execution.
  • Create one-sheets, re-capping Research success.
  • Create and modify documents using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as other internal software systems used in the Sales Dept.
  • Perform general clerical duties to include but not limited to: handling phone calls, filing, photocopying, presentations, faxing, mailing, and other administrative duties for Sales Managers and Account Executives.
  • Support staff in assigned project based work.


  • Highly proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, World Wide Web, and other related internet applications.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Must have strong written communication skills.
  • Must have strong organizational skills and pay close attention to detail.
  • Requires good verbal communication with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to learn, operate and use internal systems and other programs (WideOrbit, DARE, AE INBOX, E-PORT, KANTAR, WRAP, NIELSEN and Scarborough) for research purposes.
  • Prior experience as a Sales Assistant in a media-related field is a plus. Prior experience in research also a plus.
  • Degree preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
