(CBS Detroit) Ford is just one automaker also facing an investigation tonight overuse of Takata airbag inflators.

Those inflators were recalled over safety issues.

According to Reuters, up to 30 million vehicles, built by as many as two dozen automakers, will reportedly be investigated.

So far, the national highway traffic safety administration has opened an ‘engineering analysis’ on cars from 2001 to 2019.

The agency confirms at least 13 people were killed due to the faulty airbag either exploding or not inflating at all.

Takata airbags are under several recalls, dating back to 2019.
