(CBS DETROIT) – A marijuana ordinance has been approved by the Royal Oak City Commission for recreational sales.

Retailers and small-businesses would be allowed to start operating on Aug. 15.

Businesses can not be located within 1,000 feet of schools.

Opposing neighbors voiced concerns over the possibility of increased traffic and decreased property value.
