Detroit Sings is a collective chorus that holds events for everyone in the community to join in and sing with them. During the second Tuesday of every month, Detroit Sings hosts a free singing event at Bert’s Market Place and Jazz which is open for anyone to join.
During the event, local Detroit musicians teach the group a song with simple harmonies and practice in groups until everyone feels comfortable singing together. Once everyone is comfortable, everyone joins together to sing and have fun. No prior music experience is needed, you just need to sing your heart out and enjoy being together, signing in harmony.
This Tuesday, January 8th, Detroit Sings will have special guests from The Bethany Anne Galdes Foundation to raise awareness about depression as a life-threatening disease and ways yo prevent and improve outcomes.
The Bethany Anne Galdes Foundation was formed by the mother of Bethany after her struggle with depression lead to her taking her own life.
The goal of the foundation is to not only bring awareness to the disease, but to open up The Bethany House. The Bethany House will be “a warm welcoming environment specifically designed to manage and treat depression.”
The Bethany House will be staffed by licensed professionals and provide evidence-based therapies, help build relationships, provide education, and support families in their child’s journey fighting depression.
