Valentine's Day Deals That Will Still Make You Look Good

By Alexis Rothenberg CBS 62/CW50 Intern

Ready for romance but your budget isn't showing you love? Don't worry you don't need to sacrifice any of the passion for an affordable evening out this Valentine's Day. The first step to giving your significant other a night to remember is knowing that saving money may be one of the many reasons why they're into you. Don't be embarrassed by coupons, take advantage of what the city has to offer (if it's on sale, that means it isn't worth the full price). Not saying that your loved one isn't worth every penny but there is no need to break the bank on flowers, candy, and a night out.

The next step is to check out Groupon.com for discounts on the Valentine's Day staples. Simply search Valentine's Day with the city you live in and the deals start! Flowers and chocolate make everyone's heart melt, Groupon helps customers receive the same quality gifts without the glamorous price tags for these expendable goods.

After you have the gifts down it's time to plan the evening festivities. This year Valentine's Day is on a Tuesday. Some couples might celebrate the weekend before, but don't worry we have all your bases covered. If you plan on celebrating early take advantage of these under $20 events happening throughout Michigan.

A "Drunk in Love Bar Crawl – Royal Oak" is happening on February 11th and is $18 for a pre-ordered ticket. The crawl includes travel and a night filled with happy hour special drinks. For a more intimate evening, the Exodos Rooftop in Greek town presents Sky Covington singing Love Songs & Jazz on February 12th for only $8 a ticket. "This evening will relax your senses, and intrigue your love one" with drink specials and Greek and American cuisine.  If you're trying to achieve thetrifecta and want to end the night with a movie, the Pen Theater in Plymouth, MI is featuring Star Wars "Rogue One" Valentine's Weekend and all seats are only $3.

If you're looking for a way to cuddle up next to your sweetheart, ice skating at Campus Martius Park in Detroit is open seven days a week. Admission for adults is only $8 with a $3 skate rental. After some breezy fun, head over to The Roasting Plant for a small cup of hot cocoa for $3.71.

Michigan is offering an abundance of entertainment events this Valentine's Day. So don't flop out this year when it's possible to give your partner everything and more with these affordable options. Take control of your wallet and Valentine's Day.
