The Children’s Fun Run & Open Run kicks off at 3:30 pm.  The short run is only a mile around Belle Isle.  It’s for all ages, but if you’re a faster runner, you may want to consider the 5K instead.  The 5K Run & Racewalk / Fitness Walk starts at 4:00 pm on New Year’s Eve. The 5K is for all ages and abilities as well.

The Belle Isle New Year’s Eve Family Fun Run/Walk has been the longest-continuously-held running event in Michigan and Fifth Third Bank is the proud sponsor the past 10 years.  The proceeds from the race support the Special Olympics of the Michigan Chapter.   Come join the tradition this season and close out the end of 2016 on a positive note!

The race will include awards for the participants. The Top 3 Men and Women finishers in the 5km Run will receive gift certificates for Hanson’s Running Shop.  All finishers in the 5km and The 1 Mile will receive Finisher Medals and children under 12 will receive trophies at the finish line of their race.  The race also includes a long-sleeve moisture-wick “Tech” shirt guaranteed for all pre-registered participants.  Food and beverages will also be provided to the athletes after the race is over.
