CME: Celebrating 100 Years Of Service To The Community

Giving back to the community is at the heart of the Detroit and Mid-Michigan Districts of the Christian Methodist Episcopal (CME) Church.  On October 29, 2016, CME will celebrate 100 years of service across the state of Michigan by having a dinner and awards celebration.

"Our communities need us more than ever right now," says Reverend Tyson Kelley, a Pastor for CME.  "And we are providing this event to emphasize what we can do together as one."

The CME Michigan Centennial Celebration & Awards Gala will feature actress, producer, and businesswoman Vivica A. Fox as the keynote speaker, with radio host and television personality Willie Moore, Jr. as the host.  Fox will share CME's undying mission, the initiatives CME has to offer, and how to get involved.

Since the inception of CME church, its core mission is to provide the local community with beneficial programs that would "improve the lives of families across the state of Michigan."

Some of the initiatives they provide for their communities include:

  • Child Ministry Savings- PNC Bank and CFED who have partnered together to help children save for educational purposes.
  • International Initiatives- Ensures that children in developing countries have the access to supplies and educational opportunities.
  • Water For Life- Flint, Michigan ministries are designated spots for local residents seeking solutions to the on-going crisis in the area.

They will also recognize community and church leaders, including: Honorary Chairpersons, retired Detroit Fire Commissioner Harold Watkins, and the CME Church College of Bishops.

It will commence on October 29 at the Cobo Center on 1 Washington Blvd in Detroit, MI.  It will start at 6 pm with the VIP Reception.  The Dinner and Awards Gala will begin at 7 pm.  Tickets are $275 for the VIP reception or $200 for the Dinner and Awards Gala.  The proceeds made will benefit community programs and ministries of the Detroit and Mid-Michigan districts.
