Street Beat: Breast Cancer Awareness

This week on Street Beat, in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month host Karen Carter talks with several organizations aiding patients and their families during the struggle with breast cancer.

First, Mollie Smith, the Founder of BRCAn't Stop Me and a Michigan Cancer Genetics Alliance (MCGA) member, talks about hereditary breast and ovarian cancer.

Then, Patricia Anstett, author of "Breast Cancer Surgery & Reconstruction: What's Right for You" discusses her book which tells the stories of women who've dealt with breast cancer and reconstructive surgery.

Then, Erin Welsh, President and Treasurer of Five Points Of Hope Cancer Care Fund, explains how this organization helps people with cancer who are facing financial issues.

Finally, The American Cancer Society (ACS) strives to save lives by helping those with cancer fight back and find a cure.  Here to talk about that are Chimene Anderson, Senior Market Manager of Community Engagement for Detroit, and Native Detroiter Jimmie Bones, the keyboardist for Kid Rock and the Twisted Brown Trucker Band for nearly twenty years and a Real Men Wear Pink ambassador.
