“Really? That’s the name?” Dayna Tran recalls a text she recieved about one of the latest beers she and her husband Mike put on the list for Michigan Spring Beer Festival.

Yes. The name really is … For 5 Years I was Stranded on an Island with Only One Goal – Survive

It’s is a small batch Imperial IPA inspired by a love of The CW comic book series “Arrow” the name of the beer is a direct quote from the lore of the show’s hero Oliver Queen. It’s one of several varieties they’re bringing to Ypsilanti on July 24 and 25.

“The beer itself has a lot of tropical fruit added to it. We started out with the idea of a paradise island beer. That got us thinking about the island.” said Dayna Tran.

“That’s me nerding out”, said Tran as she talked about her love of “Arrow” memes. “His face is just perfect for so many of those things.” She binge watched most of the show’s three seasons recently.

Dayna and her husband Mike opened Eternity Brewing in Howell, Michigan about 10 months ago. They host a variety of events — many revolving around their love of geek culture including superheros, games and science fiction. August 8, wear your superhero gear for a fundraiser event at the brewery. A portion of the profits go to LACASA in Livingston County.

The former U-M lab partners and home brewers recently had their first beer distributed to a restaurant in Brighton. The Wooden Spoon had their Night Glow Black Lager on tap.

They encourage patrons to bring snacks in when they don’t host catered events. And of course enjoy one of their many beers and take a growler home.
