Detroit is known as the birthplace of many things. It appears that the city has taken on a growing interest in the industry of filmmaking.
Recently, I had the pleasure of attending a private screening of the pilot for the one-hour drama, The Inner Circle. Filmed in Detroit, this gripping series focuses on a cluster of unforeseen circumstances that all have resulted with one thing in common…drug addiction. The plot centers around seven individuals from different backgrounds looking to not only recover from their addiction, but to also create a better life for their future.
“We wanted to give everyone a good story that people will be able to attract to,” says Paris Jones.Local Filmmaker Paris Jones and Co-Executive Producer Shiek Mahmud-Bey were the masterminds behind this project. The Detroit Recovery Project sponsored the all-male rehabilitation center that was used for the set.
Prior to production, the cast members spent at least one night at the center where they could see just what it’s like to have to live temporarily in a rehabilitation center.READ MORE: Parole Denied For Don Miller Who Killed 4 Women In Lansing In The 1970s
“During the tapings there would be times when the set would get very emotional,” said Sarah Burcon who plays Holly Harper.
To deliver a sense of realness through their acting, the cast had the chance to speak with various men who have been through the program at the Detroit Recovery Project. Their stories enabled the actors and actresses to play their roles precisely as expected.
The creators of this original series hope that with the right team of actors, actresses, and a local network partner, this will be one series that you’ll be able to watch for years to come.
