The Women Marines Association Motor City Chapter frequently sends cards and packages to servicemen and women stationed overseas, but this month’s activity has a twist. They want to collect at least 3000 cards, all postmarked from Romeo, MI. This will not only cheer up the troops, but it will break the Guinness World Record for the most cards sent from a single location.
“Participation is easy,” said Mary Ann Merritt, President of the Women Marines Association Motor City Chapter. “Simply write out a card thanking our troops for their service, put it into a stamped envelope and add your return address. We will add the addressee.”
Individuals, schools, churches and businesses are invited to participate. Color a picture. Write a note. Pick up a card. Get a group together to create a bunch of greetings to show your thanks. Once you’re done, you can drop them off at the Romeo Masonic Temple (Gray’s Block) Romeo Village Opera House on either Feb 7th or on Feb 14th.READ MORE: Detroit Extended Season For Ice Skating at Campus Martius Park

Money raised by the merchants on Feb 7 will help pay postage for the troop packing party.
