D Dad: Creepiest Thing My Kid Has Ever Said

George Fox
CW50 Detroit Blogger

My son is very moody, as most 2-year-olds are. He was having a rough night at dinner. By that I mean hitting, spitting, feet on the table and not eating etc ... His mom and I were laying down a lot of punishments, of course and I don't think it sat well with him.

I took him to his room hoping a change of scenery would calm him down. We were looking at a book tucked into a chair all cozy. In a break from his routine dialogue, he looked me in the eye thoughtfully and said, "I want to take your head off and put it in the closet so you're gone." He later specified EXACTLY where -- opened and pointed in his IKEA cabinet saying, "In here daddy."

Have your kids ever said anything creepy to you? Leave a comment or Tweet to @georgejfox. I realized kids creeping their parents out was "a thing" after reading the BuzzFeed article highlighting the conversation that started on Reddit.

For a little more on the background of our crime and punishment strategy -- we use time-outs and taking away favorite things to get him to realize he's being naughty, with mixed results. Plus, letting him know that we are upset and sad when he misbehaves. On the flip side we pour on the praise when he's behaving by giving him stickers, high fives and extra TV time. Please feel free to share any tips that work for you in the comments.
