New Year's Fashion

By Raquel Parks

This is the season for festive and glamorous fashion. New Year's is all about the sparkle and glam of celebrating a fresh new year therefore a fashionista's attire should definitely make a splash. Preparing the right, stylish ensemble for New Year's Eve takes time and careful consideration.

The key to creating a look for New Year's Eve is pairing and mixing the right accessories together while considering how dressy or causal the attire should be. A cocktail dress is classic, fun, and very festive for the occasion of New Year's. It's the ideal outfit to wear to a very big New Year's Eve party.

Add to the cocktail dress by pairing it with shoes that shimmer or pop with color. Jewelry that features interesting stones and bright, colors will add a touch of sparkle to complete the look.

For example, a black peplum dress can be paired with some colorful, glitter shoes, a statement necklace and bangles. It's effortless, chic, and very befitting for the big night.

New Year's Eve attire can also be laid back for an intimate celebration with loved ones.

To keep it casually stylish, try pairing some leggings with boots or booties and an oversized colorful sweater or sweater dress. Mix in some big earrings and other colorful pieces of jewelry to add flair to the look.

Also don't forget the makeup. A little bit of lip color, eye shadow, and blush can go a long way. Whether the attire is dressy or casual, it's always a great idea to add in a little bit of makeup to enhance the look.

For example, a bright red lip is always bold and sassy but a deep, dark lip can be as equally gorgeous. The application of makeup does not have to be excessive. Light touches can be very expressive and beautiful.

Shopping locally for New Year's Eve can also be fuss free because there plenty of great stores and boutiques to check out. P2 and Pitaya in Royal Oak are two perfect places to find a variety of accessories, shoes, and outfits for New Year's Eve.

Essentially, putting together a New Year's look can be as relaxed or as formal as desired. Remember the goal is to have fun and of course be fashionable for one of the biggest nights of the year. Let the accessories do the talking and pick a look that feels most festive for celebrating the New Year in style.
