September brings awareness events for three life-altering conditions:  autism,  leukemia, and breast cancer. 

This week on Street Beat, Host Syma Chowdhry talks to Scott St. Clair, the chair of Michigan's "Walk Now For Autism Speaks", and Annette Kelly who is the reigning Mrs. Michigan United States and a spokesperson for the Michigan Autism Insurance Reform Coalition and Autism Speaks.  www.walknowforautismspeaks.org/michigan   www.autismvotes.org 

Community Correspondent Melissa Thrasher finds out about the Michigan chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and its upcoming "Light Up the Night" Walk from Stephanie Holland, campaign manager, and Kim Peterson with her son Kyle Peterson, a leukemia survivor.   www.lightthenight.org

Then Melissa talks with Derrick Hale about Enhancing Community Health Outreach, also known as ECHO, and organization that provides services for Wayne County residents.   www.sharinc.org/echo
