The 1980s have been flooding my life lately! Last weekend, I wore clothes that threw me back to the time when the Brat Pack was the “it thing!” Now, this week, my Detroit’s Gossip Girls and I had the chance to see Rock of Ages at the Fisher Theatre – home of Broadway in Detroit!
Broadway has really made its way to Detroit!
The stages was transformed into the Sunset Strip in 1987, where a small town girl met a big city rocker! The pair’s budding romance grew in LA’s most famous rock club and they fell in love to the greatest songs of the ’80s!
Since being named a Detroit’s Gossip Girl, I have seen a lot of wonderful musicals, but I think this was my favorite one!
It was awesome to be able to sing along to almost all of the songs from Journey, Night Ranger, Styx, Reo Speedwagon, Pat Benatar, Twisted Sister, Poison, and many more! Not only was the music great, but I laughed a lot! Tony Award Nominee and “American Idol” finalist Constantine Maroulis was just amazing as Drew, the big city rocker who fell for Sherrie!
Take the time to see this musical…I promise you will be singing along to your favorite ’80s songs!
Til next time, stay flawless and fabulous….
