The DGGs were rockin out to some great music last night at Rock of Ages at the Fisher Theatre – home of Broadway in Detroit! I always love going to musicals, but it’s even better when you know all of the songs.
The audience was singing aloud and clapping with the cast to the classic hits from start to finish! The score included rock tunes of the ’80s from Journey, to Pat Benatar (my personal fave), to Twisted Sister. It was a blast!
The production and the cast were great….they really put on a good show. I was especially blown away by the character of Drew, played by Constantine Maroulis (you might know him from American Idol). He hit some high notes on the stage and with the audience! It’s no wonder he’s a Tony Award nominated actor!
Rock of Ages was also surprisingly funny. The show that featured a beautiful romantic story and show-stopping musical performances also included unexpected moments of laugh-out-loud humor!
My first Broadway In Detroit experience was totally rad (yes, I am a product of the ’80s)! I would definitely recommend the show! Party On!
I’ll keep it fabulous and keep you in the loop!
