"Rock of Ages" lands in...Detroit Rock City!!

She was just a small town girl…

He was a city boy…born and raised in South DETROIT

…and this is the story of how they fell in love!

The Fisher Theater—home of Broadway in Detroit—invited us out to see the Tony Award nominated musical Rock of Ages, so the DGGs put on our leather, lace, & rocker girl faces to join the much-anticipated  concert!  Ok, it wasn't officially a concert, but it definitely felt like one.The story of Drew and Sherrie is told through the greatest Rock songs of the '80s!  We laughed hard and head-banged harder to sounds of Journey, White Snake, Poison, and the most memorable hits of the hair-band era!

Swept away to the city of lost souls (LA), circa 1987, mainly set on the sunset strip at LA's hottest bar, we learn of Drew's (Constantine Maroulis of American Idol fame) dream to be a rock star and Sherrie's dreams of being a movie star.  Amidst the two main characters, the audience could not help but fall in love with the effervescent supporting talent that crosses their paths...including the narrator, Lonny (Patrick Lewallen), whose comic relief is arguably genius!

There were so many highlights and memorable moments during the show, but one thing that stood out for me was the moral of the story, which remains true both on stage, and as we returned to our everyday lives..

DON'T STOP BELIEVIN'!

You know you love me, XOXO
Lauren
