Bombers General Manager Tony Lovieno tells the Battle Creek Enquirer that plans for the event have been in the works since at least October as a way to promote gun safety and to showcase Freedom Firearms, the area business that’s sponsoring the event.
Eastbound 696 Shut Down In Southfield After Gravel Hauler Overturns; Audio ExcerptEastbound I-696 is completely closed at Greenfield Road in Southfield after a semi truck rolled over, late Friday morning. WWJ’s Lorna Stevens reports it was a gravel hauler — and cleanup is expected to take a while as there is gravel dumped over the roadway as a result of the accident. All three lanes are blocked.
Detroit Police Investigating Deadly Hit-And-Run On Telegraph; Audio ExcerptDetroit police had southbound Telegraph Road closed Friday morning at McNichols for a deadly hit-and-run investigation. According to police, the victim is a 56-year-old man who was riding his bike across Telegraph Road when a vehicle hit him and fled. Police said it's not clear if he was crossing on a green light or not. Officers are searching for an older model gray or black Cadillac.

He was a lock to go in the lottery, with some suggesting he could be taken as high as sixth overall. The team had such little hope in landing him with the 18th pick, in fact, that they hadn’t even invited him in for a pre-draft workout.
