Whether you're seeing a rock star at the Palace or a smaller show downtown, read this list before the show to find great places to eat in the area.

Bucharest Grill
2040 Park Ave.
Detroit, MI 48226
(313) 965-3111

If you're catching a concert at the Fillmore or at Ford Field, check out Bucharest Grill – a two-minute walk from the Fillmore or a nine-minute walk from Ford Field. It offers Middle-Eastern food at great prices, and seating for the restaurant is in the Park Bar adjacent to it. Bucharest also offers hot dogs and traditional Romanian dishes if Middle-Eastern food isn't your thing. It even serves vegetarian shawarma or you can order it with beef or chicken.

Rattlesnake Club
300 River Place Drive
Detroit, MI 48207
(313) 567-4400

If you want to go somewhere really nice for dinner and you're attending a Chene Park concert, look no further than the Rattlesnake Club, a five-minute walk from the venue. Be aware that on Saturdays it is only open for dinner (5:30 p.m. to 11 p.m.), but it is open for lunch other days. The Club has a patio with a view of the river, as well as a garden terrace, and you can order $5 "bites" (appetizers) on Thursdays and Fridays from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. for happy hour. The Rattlesnake Club is definitely a pricier option to eat before a show, but the atmosphere and food is well worth it.

The Majestic Cafe
4120 Woodward Ave.
Detroit, MI 48201
(313) 833-9700

It doesn't get any closer to the Magic Stick than the Majestic Cafe: it's literally next door. The restaurant features "American comfort foods with a modern spin," with locally sourced ingredients - some even from Eastern Market - and it also has a full-service bar and outdoor patio. The cafe's happy hour is offered Tuesday through Friday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and includes cocktails and half-off appetizers, such as its mozzarella cheese sticks or crispy calamari. The Majestic Cafe also offers a Sunday brunch with a build-your-own omelette station.

Sagebrush Cantina is a quick 11-minute drive from the Palace of Auburn Hills, host to major pop, rock and oldies concerts, among others. It has two locations, in Lake Orion and in Fenton, and it's known for its Mexican food. The restaurant was started in 1996 and also boasts a huge tequila selection. Street parking can be found nearby, and it's also known to be a "neighborhood gathering spot" - Lake Orion locals often frequent it.

Clubhouse BFD

2265 Crooks Road
Rochester Hills, MI 48309
(248) 289-6093

Clubhouse BFD (Beer Food Drink), a mere seven-minute drive from Meadow Brook, has an extensive beer selection and was included in Draft Magazine's Best 100 Beer Bars of 2013 list. It boasts 40 beers on tap and about 150 bottles to choose from, and you can order samplers that are served on ping-pong paddles (with holes cut through for the glasses). Its menu is interesting as well. It has everything from sweet potato tater tots to cheeseburger sliders with Krispy Kreme donuts for buns. The restaurant does have a happy hour, during which all of its Michigan beers and select appetizers are on special.
