The second annual Fallout Fest is happening on 10/11 in Hamtramck. WIth 10 Detroit bands on the bill, we’re dedicating this playlist to that impressive line-up!
This week’s Detroit Proud Playlist is another special edition – this time, featuring bands from Jack White’s ‘Sympathetic Sounds of Detroit’ compilation album! Check it out…
Welcome back, Detroit Proud music fans, to this week’s edition of the Detroit Proud Playlist. We’ve done something special this week, featuring only a set of songs from one album. Why only one album, you ask? Well, this isn’t your typical album – it’s 40 Detroit artists collaborating in 10 groups to make 10 original songs…all about Detroit. Needless to say, it has more than sparked our interest…
It’s common knowledge to Detroiters that our town is home to some of the world’s best musicians. We’re at the top of every major music trend – from Motown to techno to garage rock. Detroit musicians have influenced and entertained millions, and that list will only continue to grow – we thought we’d pay tribute to some of those who set the bar high.
This week’s playlist is loaded with enough singer-songwriters to satisfy even the hungriest of musical hearts – every style from country to Americana to pop – there’s a track for everyone on the list! We’ve also thrown in a few indie-rock bands to balance things out, and a few Detroit old-time favorites, too.
Welcome to the first of many Detroit-inspired playlists. Each week, we are digging through all of the talent in local and well-known Detroit musicians to put together a mix of Detroit style, Detroit groove, and Detroit rock – with everything from the beloved classic hits to the local numbers you hear at our own Metro Detroit venues.
CW50 recently had the chance to sit down with Jason Stollsteimer, front man for Detroit-area rockers The Hounds Below. Jason joins Mathew Hofman, Adam Padden, and Will Shattuck in a 4-piece line-up that produces catchy melodies, with toe-tapping beats – and they’ve quickly built quite a reputation both in the Detroit music scene, and on a national scale, as well.
