the ill itches
MOTORCITYBLOG is celebrating their 10 year anniversary with a 10-band line-up at the Music Hall this weekend – and we’re featuring these 10 artists in this week’s Detroit Proud Playlist!
For this week’s playlist, we thought we’d shine a light on a few of the Pig & Whiskey Festival’s local performers…this event returns this weekend (in its 4th year already – can you believe it?) and is always jam-packed with quality music…
We’re betting you’re getting a bit down with all of this cold weather coming in, right? First week of Fall can do that to a person… Well, this week’s playlist is the cure for all of those with the autumn blues. Hear tunes that can say what our hearts can’t, and rock away without a care. Inspiring and optimistic is what we were going for.
Back for its third year, the Metro Times Pig & Whiskey festival is kicking off their weekend of fun, food, drinks, games, and local music, tonight in downtown Ferndale. Once again, Metro Times is partnering with Woodward Avenue Brewers to close off East Troy Street for this 2.5 day-long festival.
Don’t let the name fool you, ladies and gentlemen, The Pathetic Sounds of Detroit is anything but, well…pathetic. Instead, The Pathetic Sounds of Detroit, created by Joshua Woodcock and Lee Majors, is intended to be a follow-up to Jack White’s The Sympathetic Sounds of Detroit, the 2001 compilation album that achieved great acclaim and featured many of the biggest up and coming bands of Detroit at the time, including The White Stripes, The Von Bondies, and The Detroit Cobras.
