This will be my second year participating in DETROIT by DETROIT, and I couldn’t be happier. Last year, I teamed up with my good friend Omar Aragones to cover Mayer Hawthorne. Omar and I decided to do something a bit different this year; we plan on covering Detroit artist Sixto Rodriguez.
Week after week we’re committed to searching, listening, and bringing you the best of what our city has to offer…in terms of music, that is. This week, in our playlist,we’ve brought in a few new names, sprinkled in some well-known favorites, and explored other tracks from local bands we’ve seen before.
Judge Greg Mathis has a special interest in Detroit considering he was born and raised here. So it’s not surprising that he would dedicate a week of shows featuring cases from the D. On each episode one of the two cases will include residents of Metro Detroit.

Lately, “The Z” has captured all the buzz – a massive, ten-story, “Z”-shaped parking structure, retail center, and art gallery which recently opened its doors to the public last week. Personally, I believe the most impressive features of this structure are the paint-covered interior walls, showcasing the work of twenty-seven international artists who worked day and night to make this vision a reality. A team of local filmmakers – including Sean “Seabright” Jackson, Jon Braue, and Joe Talbot – had the opportunity to capture an amazing series of moments.
