Street Beat: Empowering Young Women
In recognition of Women's History Month, Street Beat host Lisa Germani reaches out to four organizations helping young women overcome obstacles in their lives.
First, Jo-Anne Woodard, Chief Operating Officer at Don Bosco Hall, discusses their educational, leadership and support services to female delinquent youth.
Then, Yatesha Robinson, Director of Social Work and Middle School Programming from Girls Group, explains how they support and encourage low income teens to continue their high school education.
Then, Chrysantha Norwood, the Metro Detroit Organizer for GirlTrek: the largest public health nonprofit for African-American women, talks about her group's mission and outreach.
Finally, Cynthera McNeill from S.A.V.E.T.H.EM. (Stomping Away Various Epidemics by Teaching Health Education and Mentoring) joins us to share information about the upcoming Youth Step Show and Resource Fair that is fighting preventative diseases in teens.
