Looking to switch up your weekend routine? How about heading out to one of the many local music events around town? Almost every weekend, you can find original Detroit artists playing events, festivals or house shows.
So, what’s your excuse?
This week, we’re bringing you a few shows to check out during your finite stretch of freedom…aka the weekend. There’s a plethora of adventure out there, so make sure you take our list as a suggestion to explore the unknown, and don’t forget that new and wondrous things surround you all the time! Get out there and find it!
Here’s to the freakin’ weekend!
This Friday at The Loving Touch in Ferndale, there’s a benefit event for Gold Soul Society (a non-profit bringing musicians and artists in Detroit together to help those in need) called A Touch of Gold. They’ve got a killer lineup and will also be taking donations for non-perishable items! Doors are at 8PM and cover is $10.
The Old Adage – “Red”
Flowers Bloom – “Show Tonight”
Emma Guzman – “No Guts”
If you’re looking for a more intimate event, check out our favorite bar, The New Way for a cheap, undoubtedly entertaining night of loud, Detroit rock. Doors are at 8PM and cover is $5.
Carcosa – “Adomania”
Those Hounds – “Maneater”
Tripp N’ Dixie – “Right or Wrong”
To get a taste of some out of town action, New Madrid from Atlanta, GA will be playing with a couple seasoned Detroit bands at El Club. Prepare yourself for some groovy, psychedelic power rock. You won’t want to miss this one. Doors are at 9PM and cover is $10.
Jerry Dreams – “Charleston, SC”
Five Pound Snap – “Twelve Seventy-Three”
New Madrid – “Don’t Hold Me Now” (Atlanta, GA)
Why let the party stop after Saturday night? Don’t waste this Sunday by sitting on the couch. Get out and experience some Detroit music! Seraphine Collective is hosting a show at the UFO Factory for a couple out of town bands: Gauche (DC) and Blizzard Babies (Chicago). So take initiative and get your sweatpants-wearin’ butt downtown to be a part of the fun!
