Do you enjoy lyrics that motivate the soul? Meet MAMA SOL & Tha NUTS. Read more on how they express themselves through spoken word and motivational hip hop.

Tell me about the music you play.
We play motivational hip-hop… spoken-word with a lot of soul

What is it like performing at the Concert of Colors?
We never set expectations for people… events… or bookings of any sort. We prepare our set & present it to whoever is there. Whatever the case, we come to share, shed light & receive light.

Who are your musical influences in Detroit?
Amp fiddler, Royce 5'9, Slum Village, Boldy James, Dwele

Who has been your biggest supporter(s) over the years?
My flows impose souls of those that are in search of light.

What inspires your creativity?
People… Experiences… Life itself.

What type of message do you want your music to send?
Our intention is to inspire others to follow what they feel is THEIR G.I.F.T. & intention for living (God Intended For This= GIFT to US) & to do that with clear intention… & watch the universe open doors.

How has music changed your life?
Without music I don't think I would be alive… Sometimes I need the lyrics & sometimes I need the music. Music is what emotions SOUND like so music balances energies.

5 years from now, where do you see yourself musically?
We live in the moment… Embrace the MOMENT & be FULLY AWARE of what is happening in THAT MOMENT… & when you give your full energy & good intention to the moment it creates more moments. When 5 years comes we will be in THAT moment. For now day-to-day we give all we have every day.

What advice would you give to beginner artists?
Stay Focused on YOU. Don't Compare & Compete. Every bird can fly without none one of them crashing. It's a slow process but QUITTING will not speed it up! Stay Consistent & Persistent.

When did you start playing music and why?
I needed music in my life… my own music. Music helped me heal. From cancer, from my brothers suicide, from SO many unforeseen obstacles. Music has been a part of my life as long as I can remember. My mother was a music teacher, my grandfather was a radio disc jockey, and my dad owned a nightclub where some of the greatest musicians came to perform. After teaching for 5 years & having a child I had what felt like an epiphany & knew I had to pursue music full time & for the last 8 years I have sacrificed, worked day in & day out to provide balance in hip-hop.
