It's a Green Day to be a Detroiter!

Get your green on because the CW50 Street Team celebrated St. Patrick's Day with our Irish (and non-Irish) friends in Corktown, Detroit! In all honesty, there's no party like a Detroit Irish party. Even when the rain was pouring, people in green clothing and accessories, and leprechaun costumes were still having a blast.

The day started with the Corktown Races where the participants ran through Michigan Avenue and back. Gary Bertolini said "I'm here to do the 5K Walk." Family and friends were also there to cheer on the participants.

After the races came the parade. There were bag pipers, Irish dancers, high school marching bands, and floats. "We come here for the tradition," said John Martin, who brought his family of five to watch the parade. Bill Wells, who was wearing a leprechaun costume, said, "I come here for the hospitality, to celebrate the Irish heritage, and to see how Detroit pays its respects to the Irish heritage. It just brings everybody together. It's nice!"

Other people we talked to said, "It's like family." It's true, everyone was friendly and ready to have a good time. We hoped for better weather but the little rain wasn't stopping anyone from seeing family, friends and having a good party in Corktown. To all our Irish friends, Happy St. Patrick's Day from the CW50 Street Team!
