Street Beat: Jimmy's Kids, swAg, The HIV Pill And WGPR
Street Beat host, Amyre Makupson, talks with 74 year old Jim Tuman about his Jimmy's Kids program that mentors youth and helps them feel, safe, valued and loved. It also helps prevent teenage suicide.
Then, two local High School students talk about the swAg (Students with "A" grades) program and how important it is to encourage students as much as we do athletes and entertainers.
We will also look at a breakthrough "PrEP Pill" that helps prevent the spread of HIV.
Finally, the plans of the WGPR-TV Historical Society to open the WGPR-TV exhibit at the Detroit Historical Museum. Former employees Joe Spencer and Karen Hudson Samuel join Amyre to discuss their plans.
