Movie With Michigan Ties, 'This Is Happening' Debuts In Metro Detroit

By Edmon Armstrong

We have our eye on a Michigan-born celebrity in the studio! James Wolk of the CBS comedy, "The Crazy Ones," and CBS drama series, "Zoo," is in Detroit to promote his new film. "This is Happening" stars Wolk, Mickey Sumner, and stage legend Cloris Leachman.

The film is a hilarious and heartfelt journey about two estranged siblings and their quest to track down their run-away grandmother. It just so happens that the grandmother in question unknowingly took off with 5lbs of marijuana in the trunk of the car. This film was shot in eleven days with Wolk, Leachman, and cast working sixteen hours a day. It will have its Detroit premier at The Maple Theater in Bloomfield on Friday, September 25, 2015 at 8 p.m. and will show for one week only. This film is produced by Matthew Weinberg, a Michigan-born film professional, and the movie trailer was cut by another Michigan native, Neal Spector.

In this CW50 web exclusive shot and edited by chief videographer Paul Pytlowany, Wolk talks about making the movie, working with Leachman, and the September 25th premier.

Show your support for Wolk, Weinberg, and Spector during the premiere run of "This is Happening" this week at The Maple or when it releases in limited theaters on October 2, 2015 and on demand. See you at the theater!
