Street Beat: Black History Month

This week on Street Beat, Amyre Makupson hosts a special edition of Street Beat on Black History Month.

Up first, Dr. Paul Rogers and LaNesha DeBardelaben, both vice presidents with the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, talk about events taking place this month at the museum.

Then, the nieces of civil rights leader Rosa Parks, Sheila McCauley Keys and Rhea McCauley, talk about their aunt and the new book written by McCauley Keys.  Next, Kunto and Tashi-Kali Acket, the project coordinator and program facilitator for KICK, an LGBT African American organization, talk about a special project that builds self-esteem in LGBT youth by teaching them about African American  LGBT leaders.

Finally, local spine surgeon Dr. Roderick Claybrooks talks about being an African American in such an elite field and his new book that encourages youth, "The Black Student's Guide to Success."
