CW50 Joins 10th Annual Youmacon

The halls of Cobo were flooded with characters that traveled from vast corners of the galaxies and story worlds to celebrate all things Japanese at the 10th annual Youmacon.

From princess to Lulu from League of Legends, there was not a dull moment at this 24 hour, four day, two location extravaganza. Attendees could take place in multiple scheduled events including Japanese video games, comics, Cosplay, and group photo sessions but the real energy of the event stemmed from the spontaneous mash up of characters interacting in the halls.

The convention has evolved largely in its ten year reign."Youmacon started off as an online gaming convention but it became more general gaming, more Japanese media, and then to media as a whole" says Amiee Shaw, member of the Youmacon Live Event Staff. "It just keeps getting better and better!"

"Just getting together with everyone else that plays the same game and we are all dressed up as our favorite characters" is Leana from League of Legends aka Jessica Koch's favorite part about the convention. "We kind of bring the games to life."

No matter who walked away from the 2014 Youmacon, there were no winners or losers, it simply was just fun to see how they played the games.  The CW50 Street Team can not imagine how the 2015 Youmacon could even begin to top this years but is definitely excited to check it out. Until then, the CW50 Street Team, like all Youmacon goers, can use the time to make their costumes and brush up on all things Japanese!
