The CW50 Street Team Learns How to Do It Yourself at the 2014 DIY Festival

It was all hands on at the 7th annual DIY Festival where a wide variety of new and returning merchants, artist, food trucks and musicians gathered to line the streets of Ferndale.

I3 Detroit, a hacker space in Ferndale, made its splash début this year. They even brought along their award-winning Robocrop! Konrad Brown told us that, "it's the scarecrow of the future." It can monitor your crops while keeping away the crows.

The CW50 Street Team really felt the vibe of the festival that keeps people coming back when we stopped into Rena Hopkins' booth, The Devine Iguana, who has had a booth at the festival going on four years now. "Everything in here is made by me, every piece is made one of a kind, everyone's hand made, and it's all repurposed, vintage, salvaged materials," says Rena.

The festival also had tons of activities, live entertainment, and those infamous food trucks that brought in people of all ages. "It's a great place to bring your family," remarks local Aaron Smith, "we got great local talent and artists… and great food, great food."

No doubt the 2014 DIY Festival was the best by far. The CW50 Street Team and all the people who participated in this year's DIY cant wait to see how next year's 2015 DIY Fest will top 2014's.
