Who knew you could change a few notes of a bubbly pop song and end up with a somber emo song that’s still a good listen?

Chase Holfelder is a recent YouTube sensation. He posts renditions of popular songs where he transposes the key of the music from major to minor. The first few seconds of his “Major to Minor” version of The Star Spangled Banner (haunting and powerful BTW) describes the method perfectly. Basically minor key sounds morose or pensive and major key is joyful and exhilarating.

Leave a comment on his channel for the song you’d like him to attempt next. And if you want to be one of his “favorite people ever” you can give money for each new video he posts on Holfenlder’s Patreon page.
