Gearing Up at the 8th Annual Backpack Music Festival

If summers winding down then that only means one thing… back to school! However, the 8th annual Backpack Music Festival on Belle Isle provided a unique way for parents and their kids to get ready for the upcoming school year. Here kids could partake in face painting, crafts, and a bit of electronic music all while gathering school supplies from local organizations to put in their donated backpacks.

The Backpack Music Festival is an event that helps to collect backpacks and school supplies for kids in the surrounding areas. Clayton Monte, a volunteer, said he hopes they get over two hundred backpacks from today's event." All of the backpacks and school supplies will got to kids in need for the upcoming school year.

Events like these are so important for the kids because it shows them that there is a community that cares, "these kids are the future" explains Willie Dickerson, who is a returning volunteer for the event. Tim Price from the Artlab J Dance, told Megg from the Street Team that it is important for kids to see that there are a bunch of opportunities for them out there and this event defiantly helps to prove that.

The CW50 Street Team was over joyed to see all the organizations and volunteers that came together to make this year's 8th annual Backpack Music Festival the best to date!
