You know what they say “food is good the soul” and Beans and Cornbread is known for doing the soul good. Beans and Cornbread is a unique blend of Southern soul food and Northern style.
This infamous restaurant has been winning the award for Best Soul Food 14 years and counting. People from all around the world flock to Beans and Cornbread for their Southern-styled favorites: fried chicken, farm-raised catfish, smothered pork chops, Michigan grown collard greens, candied sweet potatoes, macaroni & cheese and the list goes on.
Make Yourself At Home
The setting is very intimate and filled with portraits of African American history and memorabilia surrounding your every move. Walking through the door you can hear that sweet Motown sound from Diana Ross and the Supremes or the angelic voice of Dorothy Dandridge. The hospitality is nothing short of amazing just like the Southern flavors and spices drifting from the kitchen.
My favorite dish is the fried chicken, macaroni & cheese, sweet potatoes and the sweet potato cornbread.
Big names have come from near and far to savor the flavor of Beans & Cornbread including The Reverend Jessie Jackson, Chef Emeril Lagasse, Common, Jill Scott, Queen Latifah, The Rolling Stones, and Detroit’s own Aretha Franklin. The only name missing from that list is yours.
