Glamour, glitz, and prestige ruled the fashion for the 36th Emmy Michigan Gala on Saturday evening. The black tie affair brought out the most well-respected professionals in Michigan's television wearing their best style.

The warm weather and bright sunshine inspired many different traditional formal looks for the prominent event held at Motor City Casino's Sound Board. The biggest trends of the night were sparkle and the color black.

In-house Winners

Beyond the fashion was, of course, the plethora of Emmy nominations and wins announced. There were a total of 231 nominees at this year's Emmy Gala. WWJ-TV / WKBD had the honor of being nominated in several categories and won three Emmys.

Congratulations to Carol Cain, Paul Pytlowany for their win in the Business/Consumer category for "The Health Care Act and You". Also to Andy Cotitsas for his win in the Writer/Short Form category for "First Forecast:  Better Weather" and last but not least Jon Drobil for his win in the Graphics category for his compilation submission.

Many attendees kept it classic and sophisticated in black evening gowns or knee length dresses such as Glenda Lewis. She stunned in a floor length black dress, adorned with several gold zippers and her hair was swept to the side in soft, loose curls.

Beaded and sequin gowns were equally popular on the red carpet which created glitzy looks. CBS 62 / CW50 designer, Alissa Lincoln wore a long sleeveless champagne and bronze sequin v-neck gown and complimented the look with an elegant pinned up hair-do.

Reporter, Heather Catallo opted for a cap-sleeve gown that was covered in navy blue and silver sequins. She wore her hair in a bun swept gracefully to the side.

In addition to the basic black and glitzy sparkle, a handful of guests wore high-low formal gowns. The high-low hemline was an ideal choice for the hot evening and still offered the traditional floor length style befitting for a black tie affair.

Bright colors also made an appearance on the Emmy red carpet. Jamie Ward introduced nominees in a long, satin hot pink gown that had beaded straps.

Essentially, the women definitely displayed stylish and beautiful looks for the Emmy Gala. Yet, the evening would not have been complete with out all the distinguished men to also walk the red carpet.

As expected, there were many black and white tuxes. But color was also implemented as a key point in several of the men's looks to add style. For example, Chauncy Glover created a memorable and sharp look. He wore a navy blue suit, trimmed in black with a big black bow tie.

Men also wore ties with unique prints and colors and chose to splash some color into their tuxes. Overall, the Emmy fashion was very polished, traditional and elegant.

From the glamorous fashion to the major wins, the 36th Michigan Emmy Gala was an elegant and successful evening to celebrate Michigan television.
