The CW50 Street Team helped to ring in spring at the 2014 FestiFools in Ann Arbor. Held on Main Street, the event was a mix of both street party and festive parade. Shoshana Hurand, Board Manager of WonderFool Productions, was happy to see the community coming together. “I think my favorite part of it is that you get this really cool interaction between people”, she said. “And you’ve never seen this much color after winter time!”
Small, tall, large and very unique creative fools paraded down the street with their papier-mâché puppets accompanied by the beats of local street musicians. Students and community members spent the past few weeks or even months crafting their own puppets to display at FestiFools. Festival participant Rebecca Schwartz worked to create a giant ice cream cone puppet in her art class. “I think it took us around three or four weeks to complete”, she said.
The spirit of the foolish festival overtook everyone who gathered in downtown Ann Arbor to watch the parade. Anyone and everyone could partake in acting like a fool, and yes that even included our CW50 Street Team! Members Krystle Anderson, Jennifer Buhaj, and Megg Jacobs joined in on the fun by dancing like fools in the street. FestiFools was a perfect way to say goodbye to this dull grey winter and hello to beautiful and colorful spring!
