Uplifting Documentary Batman: 'Legends of the Knight' Screening In Detroit

By: Tony Chiudioni
Writer/Producer for CW50

Anyone who knows me knows that I am a giant "man-child." I love comic books and comic book movies. Batman has always had a very special place in my heart. He is my number one favorite and has been since I was about 10 years old.

For me there was always something extra special about Batman. I was drawn to him because of his "human-ness." Batman doesn't have super powers. He can't leap tall buildings in a single bound like Superman or run at the speed of light like The Flash. He's just a man; he bleeds; he can be killed. Granted he's a man with a lot of money to do these things, but that's also part of the allure. He's a billionaire who does more with his money than host extravagant parties and spoil himself. He overcame the devastating loss of his parents and became one of the most powerful heroes of all time.

He's a hero who has helped many people not just in comic books, but real-life people going through devastating times of their own. Some of these stories are chronicled in the uplifting documentary "Legends of the Knight."

Appearing in this film is Michael Uslan, Executive Producer of every Batman film since 1989; Lenny B. Robinson, a successful business man who travels the country visiting children's hospitals dressed as Batman; and "Batkid" himself, Kye Sapp, the 5-year-old who took the internet by storm as a crime-fighter for a day while battling leukemia.

Also appearing in the film is the Detroit-area native "Legends of the Knight" executive producer Vasilis K. Pozios, M.D., who is not only a lifelong Batman fan, but also a board-certified physician specializing in forensic psychiatry.

On Thursday, March 27th there will be a screening of "Legends of the Knight" at the Maple Theater  in Bloomfield Hills.  Proceeds from the screening benefit the Alzheimer's Association – Greater Michigan Chapter.

By coming to this screening, you can be a Superhero for the day – at least in the eyes of the Alzheimer's Association. This is on my calendar now.  If you go, look for me.  I'll be the guy in the Batman underwear.

Tickets can be reserved at: http://www.tugg.com/events/8201
