'Veronica Mars' Producer Rob Thomas Writing iZombie Script For The CW

"Is this the hottest zombie ever?" YouTube user Shea Koshan, asked the question, in her summary of the first issue of iZombie, the DC comic book serving as the basis of a new show being developed for The CW with Rob Thomas of "Veronica Mars" fame.

Thomas is fresh off the success of his Kickstarter crowd-funded "Veronica Mars" movie. The reception of the actual movie is yet to be determined, but he's wasting no time getting on another project. One part zombie, one part crime drama and sprinkle in some girl power and it sounds like a recipe for awesome.

The premise of the show according to Deadline Hollywood:

... a supernatural crime procedural that centers on a med student-turned-zombie who takes a job in the coroner's office to gain access to the brains she must reluctantly eat to maintain her humanity. But with each brain she consumes, she inherits the corpse's memories, and with the help of her medical examiner boss and a police detective, she solves homicide cases in order to quiet the disturbing voices in her head.

I like to think of the show's protagonist Gwendolyn Price as a cross between Patricia Arquette in "Medium" and Kristen Bell in "Veronica Mars." The connection is clear since Thomas was an executive producer and writer for the latter which concluded on The CW in 2007.

Can I be the first to recommend Taylor Momsen for the role of Gwendolyn? Not sure if she's too busy fronting her rock band The Pretty Reckless, but she doesn't appear to have surfaced in the acting scene since "Gossip Girl."
