Mayer Hawthorne gets things going with “Her Favorite Song.”

Mayer Hawthorne, who’s real name is Andrew Mayer Cohen, grew up in Ann Arbor and moved to L.A. when he was 26 to futher his music career.

Hawthorne still considers Detroit his home.

In an article from Rolling Stone Magazine he says “Detroit is a huge part of everything I do, and not just the music,” says neo-soul singer Mayer Hawthorne. “That’s where I grew up, and that’s the city that I love. I like to promote the positive things that are going on there, because everybody else just likes to focus on the negative.”

He finished the show with a performance from “Crime.”

Watch ARSENIO HALL weeknights at 11 p.m. on CW50.
