The CW50 Street Team is Doing it for Themselves at the DIY Street Fair!

The streets of Ferndale were filled with people looking to have fun in a family friendly atmosphere at the DIY (Do It Yourself) Street Fair. As an environmentally friendly and forward-looking community, the people of Ferndale came together to celebrate the innovative thinking and creativity that the city continuously promotes. At the event, local businesses and innovators showcased their talents and the ways they're working to help create a stronger community.

People came out to the fair to enjoy music and art. The DIY Street Fair featured several local bands, art vendors, and performing arts groups. When asked about the DIY Street Fair, Brett Carson from Theater Bizarre excitedly said "Best street fair of the year so far"! Street fair attendee Yvette Bonner was also excited about the annual event, saying "I just came out to look at all of the different vendors and check out some of the great tasting foods".

The CW50 Street Team had a great time making their own CW50 wind turbine with the help of the Michigan Science Center. Kids learned all about science and creating electricity using wind power. Kids were also able to enjoy crafts, face-painting, ferris wheel rides, and carnival style games. The Street Team had a chance to learn new skills and try new things as well. Street Team Member Jennifer tested her rock-climbing skills on a rock wall, while the Street Team's Krystle Anderson learned that bean bag toss is a lot harder than it looks. The Street Team also had a good time learning about eco-friendly cars at the Fair. Jennifer had fun testing a fuel-efficient lime green Chevy with Peter Griffin.

The DIY Street Fair provided a great time for families in the community while also promoting a do-it-yourself attitude.
