The Street Team Went Walking For Kids At The Zoo


Families throughout the Detroit metropolitan area came out to the Detroit Zoo for The Rainbow Connection's Walk for Kids. The event helps to support kids who have been diagnosed with a life threaten illness. Strong community involvement is one of the ways The Rainbow Connection strives to make children feel loved. The Rainbow Connection also helps make their wishes come true. Zachary Wieland was to recipient of a trip to Disney World. When asked about his experience on riding the dolphins, he shouted, "really fun!"

Many of the volunteers and families of the Rainbow Connection strongly support the organization because of all the wonderful things it does for children. "We do this every year for him (nephew) and all the other kids that are out here," said Buffy Ruelas. "We look forward to this every single year." Street Team Member, Krystle Anderson, not only got to interact with volunteers and children; she was also able to interview some of the animals at the zoo as well. She meet a friendly Black Bear who kindly explained to her the variety of common colors black bears can have.

The Rainbow Connection Walk for Kids was an event to remember. It not only give support to children battling life threaten diseases, but it also gives families a chance to enjoy each other's time, while at the Detroit Zoo. Kids were able to play games, listen to music and even interact and take pictures with a Clown and a friendly, fun loving Wolf.
