Batting For Kids Returns To Comerica Park

More than 450 children will be invading Comerica Park this Monday when Willie Horton's Batting For Kids returns for its 12th year.

Kids, ages 5 – 15, will have the opportunity to compete in a baseball competition that includes base running, hitting and throwing, as well as participate in baseball demonstration clinics. Winners of the skills competition will have a chance to meet Detroit Tiger Prince Fielder and be welcomed back to Comerica Park on July 30th where they will be recognized in a pre-game ceremony and awarded individual trophies.

"Batting for Kids is a fantastic day of fun, providing kids with the opportunity to learn and practice the fundamentals of baseball and enjoy an active day outdoors," said Charles D. Small, president and CEO of Don Bosco Hall. "It is such a joy to see kids of all ages participating in America's favorite pastime."

Registration is $25 per child, and includes participation in the baseball competition, an event T-shirt, a souvenir baseball glove, a continental breakfast and lunch.

Event proceeds will benefit Don Bosco Hall, a 60-year-old human service agency that provides social service programs to enhance the lives of local youth and their families.

The deadline to register is Sunday, June 30. Space is limited and running out so make sure you hurry and sign up!
