‘Sonic Lunch’ Summer Concert Series Awakens the Streets of Ann Arbor
Feeling a bit drowsy by lunch time? Need a pick-me-up other than that over-priced, three-shot espresso you’re holding? What would you say to a summer concert series in the heart of downtown Ann Arbor, featuring a new band each week, from an impressive list of artists? Oh, did we mention it was free?! (Yeah, that’s one of our favorite parts too.)
Back for the sixth year running, Bank of Ann Arbor will host its annual, free summer concert series, Sonic Lunch – rocking in the Liberty Plaza at the corner of Liberty and Division streets in downtown Ann Arbor. This week features Detroit duo Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. Maybe you’ve heard of them – they sing that catchy little number, “If You Didn’t See Me (Then You Weren’t On The Dancefloor),” the summer hit that’s gone viral – you’ve probably seen it pop up in your Twitter feed.
The concert series will also feature many local artists and bands as well as other big name performers. For a list of what’s happening, see below.
You’re just as excited as we are? Yeah, we thought so. Sonic Lunch takes place every Thursday, from 12 – 1:30pm, until August 29. And while you’re there, you can enjoy food from one of the restaurants of the Ann Arbor area. Each week a different restaurant will be on-site selling their delicious foods for Sonic Lunch goers to purchase. After all, it is lunch time. Other Ann Arbor area restaurants will offer special discounts to pick up at the park, as well.
So it’s a date then! Music, food and fun in the sun – away from the everyday, office routine. Get up and come out…it’s sure to awaken your senses and get you revived for the weekend. Visit the Sonic Lunch official site for more information.
