The CW50 Street Team headed out to Grand Circus Park for the 97.1 The Ticket Opening Day Block Party. Tigers fans showed up for food, games and a Justine Blazer concert. Spirits were high as the fans prepared for the game against the New York Yankees. Though temperatures where not ideal for spring time, that didn't seem to bother anyone. First Forecast anchor Karen Carter said, "You couldn't ask for really a better day than today. The sun is shining, good temperatures out there and just a great way to celebrate Detroit and the Tigers coming back for another great season."

Tigers fans look forward to this day every year. Judging by the attendance and events happening in Grand Circus Park, it is easy to see why. One fan even said that Opening Day is, "better than St. Patrick's Day!" Fans took their Tiger pride to the extreme by dressing up as tigers, painting their faces and wearing enough official gear to look like an actual player.

With large cheerful crowd downtown it was clearly a successful home opener. Here's to a successful 2013 season. Let's go Tigers!
