Street Beat: Crime Prevention

This week on Street Beat – Host Rob Stone from 99.5 WYCD is taking a closer look at local groups aimed at stopping crime – from neighborhood safety to sexual violence.

First up – Bill Dwyer from the Oakland County’s board of commissioners is raising awareness about gun violence through a series of hearings.

Next, Peggy Goodwin from the Royal Oak board of commissioners  and Lt. Mike Frazier from the Royal Oak Police Department discuss the benefits of having a neighborhood watch program.

Then JoAnn Cooper-Reid tells us about a special program that helps communities affected by violence in the city with  the Detroit Police Victim’s Assistance Program.

Finally, Pam Swinder invites us to Take Back the Night Ann Arbor to help raise awareness against sexual violence.
