Kitty Costs Got You Down? Low-Cost Vaccination Clinic Offered

DETROIT (CBS Detroit) Petfinder.com estimates it costs $1,500 a year to own a dog -- or more than $100 a month, including food, toys and medical care.

To make pet ownership more affordable, Tail Wagger's 1990, a local non-profit organization, is kicking off their community low-cost vaccination clinics beginning March 10th at Premier Pet Supply in Beverly Hills.

In a strong effort to enable pet owners to affordably vaccinate all their animals, Tail Wagger's 1990 will again conduct multiple, low-cost vaccination clinics throughout Wayne, Oakland, Washtenaw and Livingston Counties.

These clinics are open to everyone, regardless of income level and pet owners are encouraged to take advantage of this simple way to get their pets up-to-date on their vaccinations.   To date, 15 clinics are scheduled across eight cities from March through September.

The vaccination clinics will kick off 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, March 10th at Premier Pet Supply, 31215 Southfield Road in Beverly Hills.

And yes, you can bring your best friend: Dogs, cats, puppies and kittens are encouraged to attend.  For dogs:  Rabies, Distemper/Parvo and Bordetella come as a package for only $30 or can be purchased individually for only $12/each.  For cats:  Rabies and Distemper can be purchased individually for only $12/each.

Microchips are available and cost $30.  Registration is included with Microchip fee.

"With the challenging times we are all facing today, it is with high hopes that people of all income levels will continue to take advantage of our low-cost vaccination clinics and get their pets properly vaccinated to avoid further health issues," said Tail Wagger's founder Laura Zain. "Expanding into Washtenaw and Livingston County shows there is a need and demand to assist pet owners with affordable pet heath care."

No appointment is needed but an RSVP to help us plan better is appreciated.  Families/pets will be taken on a first-come first-served basis and minimal wait time is expected.  To RSVP call 734-855-4077.
