‘Searching For Sugar Man’ Detroit Musician Documentary Wins Critics’ Choice Award

1970s Detroit musician Rodriguez is the focus of the new documentary getting high praise on the awards circuit. It’s latest addition, received January 10, 2013, is from the Critics’ Choice award for Best Documentary Feature.

Rodriguez was discovered in Detroit. An album was recorded, but it bombed. A copy of the record ended up in South Africa and became very popular. The film “Searching For Sugar Man” charts the extraordinary and inspirational story of Rodriguez.

The Critics’ Choice Movie Awards show airs on The CW and honors the finest in cinematic achievement. Eligible films were released in 2012.
