In honor of Mother’s Day, Street Beat looks at the importance of motherhood and the need for foster parents for children.
First, host Syma Chowdhry speaks with Angela Aufdemberge, President and CEO of Vista Maria, and one of the Vista Maria foster parents, Gayle Baxter.
Then Kathleen Banfield, Oakland County DHS Supervisor, explains the partnership between Spaulding for Children and the Oakland County Department of Human Services in the iCARE 365 program that is searching for foster parents.
Then Teresa Sandner, a Parent Education Specialist with CARE of Southeast East Michigan, gives parenting advice. Finally, Diane Renaud, President/CEO of St. Vincent and Sarah Fisher Center, explains how Michigan’s oldest non-profit organization has reinvented itself from orphanage to providing educational help to parents and small children.
