WATCH NOW – Street Beat: BME Leadership Awards

This week on Street Beat Syma Chowdhry meets with several winners of the Black Male Engagement Challenge including Knight Foundation’s Rishi Jaitly, Eddie Connors, Shaka Sengor,  Andre Dandridge, Miguel Pope, Brook Ellis and Emu Michael Kumane. The award recipients talk about how their projects will improve the lives of metro Detroit youth.

According to bmechallenge.org, Black Male Engagement, or BME (pronounced “be me”), is a pilot initiative launched August 1, 2011 in Detroit and Philadelphia to highlight the black men and boys engaging and leading others to service in their cities.
