Every day students are tormented at school and never say a word. This week on Street Beat, host Syma Chowdhry looks at the issue of bullying.

First, Syma meets Kevin Epling and Michelle Calco, two parents who lost children to suicide after being bullied, and learns about the new law that aims to end this epidemic.

Then she gets information on Gloves-On,  an organization that is empowering kids across the nation, from its  Founder David Zawicki and Buck Head, the afternoon drive host from 98.7 AMP RADIO.

Community Correspondent Cindy Kainz learns about the power of positive affirmations from author Denise Crittendon who’s books are aimed at helping teens develop strong self-images.

Finally, Syma Chowdhry shares her own story of being bullied as a child.

Bullying is a serious problem affecting millions of children. It can interfere with their social and emotional development, as well as their school performance. 19,000 children attempt to commit suicide every year as a direct result of being bullied. To help combat this, I have put together a bully prevention show for elementary schools & libraries called “The STOP Bullying Show”. Based out of Orlando, Florida, the show raises the awareness of bullying in a fun & engaging way; while teaching kids what they can do to put a stop to it. Highlights of the show can be seen here…
